Leoparents discover that there is different information
about Leo’s vaccinations on every hospital discharge document.

A long and tedious investigation shows that Leo was not vaccinated against tuberculosis.
Unfortunately, getting through to the vaccination clinic is beyond Leoparents’ abilities.
(The only phone number given on the website is operated by the same lady
who works at the registration desk and has to simultaneously deal
with phone calls and patients coming in from around the country).
Three weeks of trying in vain.
We have to go there in person and wait in line for at least a few hours…

Leophysiotherapist, Ania, decides Leo is ready to sit by himself!
Thumbs-up for Leo!!!

Another screening of “Curse” starring Leo!
This time it is shown at 30th Film Débuts Festival “The Young and Film” in Koszalin.

Frame from Curse, dir. Tomasz Śliwiński

One of the tracks in the film is “Lavender Girl”, a song that accompanied Leo’s birth
(it was actually the only song Leomom tolerated at that time :-)

Despite scarce teeth and tracheotomy difficulties,
Leo is bravely learning to eat with a spoon and using the BLW method.

A Gypsy lady looked at Leo and said: “His teeth are coming out!!!”

Indeed: the same evening, brave Leomom took a look inside the lion’s mouth
and found the first canine tooth!

August went by in Sopot and Kaschubia.
The weather wasn’t very good – it was definitely too cold and wet.
Leo didn’t give up, though, and with all his equipment, he boldly fought his way through mud,
puddles and other obstacles of the forest.
Anyways, the November style weather was warmed up by the fireplace
and some wonderful company.

Nobody is able to dispel Leoparents’ doubts.

To save Leo from dangerous effects of reflux,
doctors advise to put him in upright position.
Physiotherapists on the other hand, say he mustn’t be sat down too early,
as it may cause irreversible damage to the baby.
The most radical one even said that if Leoparents sit Leo down,
she will not be able to guarantee he will ever be able to walk…

In result, Leoparents buy their son a deckchair and carry him around in a scarf whenever possible.

Leo, as usual, comes back home by ambulance with sirens.

Next, he changes cars and rushes to his grandparents, to the seaside!!!

Tests do not confirm heart defect or epilepsy; however,
digestive tract passage and pH measurements show that Leo suffers from gastric reflux disease,
which causes shrinking of bronchus that leads to breathing problems.
If the reflux doesn’t recede after three months of pharmacological treatment,
Leo will have a stomach surgery. This will slow down his,
already retarded, motor skills development.
Additional stress comes from the fact that for CCHS patients’
anaesthesia can be very dangerous – even lethal.

2011.07.28

Leo, even when not sleeping, breathes very poorly.
Oxygen saturation drops far below 85%.

This means he needs constant oxygen backup.

If the situation doesn’t improve, he will go back home with an oxygen concentrator.

An oxygen concentrator is huge, heavy and stationary.
It means no more walks, trips, laying in the sun, meetings with the doe,
or searching for boars. Leo will not be able to leave the apartment…
